Bhubaneswar: Pradeep Kumar Jena, the former Chief Secretary, has been elected as the new president of the esteemed Bhubaneswar Club as of Sunday evening.
Reports indicate that Jena faced off against Asit Tripathy, a two-time president, with both candidates having held the position of chief secretary in the state government.
Jena emerged victorious by a margin of 18 votes. Pragati Mohanty was elected as vice president, winning by a significant 60 votes, while Lalit Das secured the secretary position with a lead of 76 votes. Sambit Mohanty was elected as joint secretary, winning by 68 votes.
The election process spanned two days, featuring E-voting on Saturday and offline voting on Sunday for those unable to participate digitally.
In total, 2,321 members cast their votes, comprising 1,922 individual members and 399 corporate members.
"I extend my gratitude to Asit Tripathy for a commendable contest and to my team for their dedication throughout this journey. We are committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in our financial dealings and will introduce transformative initiatives. Our first resolution will limit the president and secretary to a maximum of two terms," Jena stated.
